Joining Process

Joining Process

Natura is now open for membership for potential community members/families. If you would like to join Natura to build your own home or rent and live in community with us the first step is to contact us. You can visit our contact us page or email us at:

The cost to get your 100-year lease on your building lot and receive your co-op shares is $30,000. The cost is only due once the membership process is completed and both yourself and the community decide to move forward.

Homes will need to be designed within a set of guidelines to ensure the build meets the 1st tenents of the permaculture
principal(care for the planet) by which the community is founded. The community will act as the developer to ensure that the build meets the guidelines of Natura.

Step 1 – The process starts with a “get to know you” period. The purpose will be for both the community and the potential member(PM) to get to know one another. We will strive to learn as much about each other as possible to see if our vision and mindsets match. All existing members must feel comfortable with the PM before they can move to the next step. A PM must spend a minimum of 48 hours per month with the community members. This may include, but is not limited to, working with the community, attending functions/workshops. The PM must attend at least one community meeting per month of Pledge period. However, the PM does not have a vote and will only be observing the meetings This process will be no less than 3 months and up to 6 months. There must be a consensus among all existing members before the PM can move on to the next step. If the consensus is not reached within the Pledge period membership will not be granted to the PM.

Step 2 – The next step will be provisional membership; a refundable deposit of 20%  on the $15,000 for shares will need to be made to go on. A criminal records check including a deep search must be completed before provisional membership is granted. The provisional membership will be a 6 month period with the provisional member living in the community. This may be as a renter, in temporary accommodations or with a full member in their home. Once the 6 months is up a consensus on full membership must be reached by all members before full membership is granted. If consensus is not reached full membership will not be granted and the deposit will be refunded

Step 3 – Full membership granted. The member will have the rights and privileges as a full member and must pay all fees within the prescribed time.
